We had a blast on our vacation in Mexico, but we hadn't been back too many days when we started talking about next year. We now have two AI trips under our belt, so we are able to decide what we really want moving forward.
Last year's trip to The Royal Cancun was pure luxury. We were greeted by bellboys who opened our van door and gave us a glass of champagne and a cold, damp towel. They took our bags and directed us to the check in table where we were processed and taken to our suite that happened to be ready early. The bellboys took us to our spotless room, lifted our suitcases onto their trays and gave us a brief tour. The bed was spectacular with abundant soft, goose-down bedding. The towels were plush. The robes and slippers were light and fluffy. We were waited on at the pool and were never thirsty. We never went without at dinner; our glasses were always full and our every request was granted without question. Housekeeping was meticulous. Nightly turn down service was sweet - bed turned down, robes and slippers waited on the bed, candles lit and aromatherapy oils oozed relaxing scents of camomile and lavender. Our days were quietly spent on the beach and by the pool listening to the sounds of the waves crashing and birds chirping. Our nights were spent relaxing in our jacuzzi tub for two in our room. It was complete relaxation and star treatment at a luxury hotel.
This year's trip to the Valentin Imperial Maya was pure fun! We were greeted by bellboys who opened our van door and gave us a glass of champagne. We took our own bags and placed them with the others who were waiting to check in. We stood around for a bit before being told that we were to check in by walking down a long outdoor hallway and taking a right into the lobby. Once in the lobby, we stood around for a bit more before being told that we were to have a seat and someone would come get us for check in shortly. Thirty minutes later, someone came to check us in. Our room was not ready, so we were given a map and told where to find the restaurants. A couple of hours later, we came back to get our room keys and luggage. We then flagged down a bellboy on a golf cart to take us to our room. He walked us inside and rolled our luggage in before he told us to have a good time, and he left. The room was clean and cool. The bedding was much like what one would find in a hotel. We called housekeeping for additional pillows and a blanket. The robes and slippers looked like they may or may not have already been used. The towels may or may not have been washed with fabric softener. Housekeeping was called several times for items they neglected to replenish each day. Our days were spent hanging out with fun friends by the pool, visiting the multiple swim up bars, dancing to the music, playing pool games, taking bike tours of the resort, eating lunch by/on the pool, floating in the lazy river and just having FUN! Our nights were spent eating dinner at fancy restaurants and watching live theater shows in the plaza. It was a lot like a giant cruise ship with no kids that never moved. We had so much fun at an expansive 120 acre resort by the beach!
We travel well and spare few expenses. We like to upgrade our flight seats to exit rows or first class. We like to be wined and dined - heck, it's VACATION! Moving forward, we want to find a combination of luxury and fun. We want our the quality of our room and the quality of the service to be top notch. We also want to the option to have FUN at the resort. I think we've also decided that we want to travel somewhere that English is the primary language. We want to go somewhere that we clear Customs before returning to the States. We're not picky either.
Our agent is on it.
Where do you like to travel? Any suggestions for our next destination?
